Why It Is Important to be Involved in Community

COMMUNITY: not a bad idea, but a God idea

When you hear the word community, it probably conjures up several different thoughts in your mind. Some good, some not so good. Either way, I want to encourage you to re-think community in the coming year because I believe that it is a concept from God. In fact, I believe that it is God's blessing for those who find it, function within it, and work to preserve it. When you live in community with other believers, it offers you personal encouragement, support in difficult times, correction when you get off track, and insights on what walking with Jesus looks like. Personally, I have greatly benefitted from doing life surrounded by the family God, and I believe you will experience the same benefits.

Don't just take my word for it, but consider what the Scriptures say on this matter. Hebrews 10:25 (ESV) says, "not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” Since the return of Christ is drawing is near, and the world is getting darker by the day, I pray that we heed the words of Scripture and fight for community. I believe that it will help persevere in the days ahead and prepare us for His return!

What does this mean for you? The Scriptures declare it's important, and I have shared reasons why you should pursue it and what benefits you will receive. Now, it's up to you! Will you prioritize community in the days ahead, or will you trudging along through life alone? The choice is yours, but I pray that you make the right one. Until then, you can find me hanging out with my Tribe!
